Some Excellent Resources:

www.betterplan.squarespace.com A very comprehensive site from our neighbors in Wisconsin.  The sidebar showing the ABCs of wind energy is priceless and a great place to start your inquiry...

www.cvecinc.org Always a good idea to keep an eye on things...

www.epaw.org  The European Platform Against Wind is a very interesting site.  You can suggest that town officials and wind developers visit this site when they try to claim that wind energy has been a great success in Europe.

www.greenberkshires.org  This site was developed by Eleanor Tillinghast, who was the second presenter in our October lecture series.  This is a good place to follow the legislative action on the Wind Energy Siting Reform Act (WESRA) that is before the MA state legislature.

www.na-paw.org  The North American Platform Against Wind Power

www.robertbryce.com  Robert Bryce is the author of Power Hungry (see below).  This site contains many of Bryce’s articles published in Wall Street Journal and other important publications.

www.windaction.org  This is a very comprehensive site that is continually updated it is a great resource for issues concerning wind energy throughout New England and the US.  The founder of Wind Action, Lisa Linowes, was the first speaker in our Lecture Series, June 2011.  She has a wealth of knowledge on the issue.

www.windconcernsontario.wordpress.com

www.windpowerfacts.com  This site was developed by John Droz, Jr., who was the first presenter in our October lecture series.  This site offers strong arguments for science-based inquiry of Industrial Wind Turbines.

www.windturbinesyndrome.com  This site is provided by Dr. Calvin Luther Martin, Dr. Nina Pierpont’s husband, and also a celebrated author.  It contains important information and is updated often.
(See below for info on the book Wind Turbine Syndrome)

http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/interviews.html  In October 2011, we were honored by a visit from Dr. Nina Peirpont and Calvin Luther Martin.  While they were on the Cape, Nina took time to interview some of our neighbors whose health has been profoundly affected by the siting of Industrial Wind Turbines close to their homes.

www.windvigilance.com  The Society for Wind Vigilance is an international federation of physicians, engineers and other professionals promoting the development of authoritative wind turbine guidelines to protect the health and safety of communities.  This site includes contact information for their support group for Victims of Wind (VOW).

www.wind-watch.org  On their home page, they have a link to a fantastic piece entitled, “What To Do If Your Community Is Targeted” (http://www.wind-watch.org/whattodo.php) .  They also have a very good synopsis of the International Symposium on Health Effects of Industrial Wind Turbines that was held in Ontario last October.  This link includes presentations by Dr. Nina Pierpont, MD, PhD, FAAP and Dr. Michael Nissenbaum, MD.  Dr. Nissenbaum was the third presenter in our October lecture series.   www.windwatch.org/documents/symposium-delivers-facts-on-wind-energy

We will be suggesting additional web sites often. Please consider these sites to be of cardinal importance.  They are updated continually and provide invaluable information.

These books are a must read:

Wind Turbine Syndrome: A Natural Experiment (2009)  by Dr. Nina Pierpont, MD PhD, FAAP

Picture
"I devoutly hope that her findings, pinned as they are to unassailable research and rigorously peer-reviewed by ranking scientists, come to the attention of movers and shakers who can broaden the research base and shape the politics of dealing with Wind Turbine Syndrome.  - Jack G. Goellner, Director Emeritus, The Johns Hopkins University Press.

"Dr. Pierpont has made an important contribution to a debate about wind turbines that should be conducted not between champions and opponents of renewable energy, but within the community of those who want this country to behave in an environmentally responsible way.  That we can and should do." - Editorial Board of The Independent (UK)

Calvin Luther Martin, PhD, Dr. Pierpont's husband and a celebrated author, maintains their invaluable website that is updated constantly www.windturbinesyndrome.com  Check it often!

Power Hungry: The Myths of Green Energy and Real Fuels of the Future (2010)  by Robert Bryce

Picture
Bryce provides an authoritative and interesting presentation of the challenges and real costs of powering progress.
"...brutal, brilliant.....unsentimental, unsparing and impassioned"-- Wall Street Journal
"Bryce douses the green energy movement with a cold shower of facts and figures"  - Freakonomics
"should be mandatory reading for US policymakers." -
National Review .
Robert Bryce also maintains a website
www.robertbryce.com  that features important articles on energy subjects.

The Wind Farm Scam:  An Ecologist's Evaluation (2009)   by John Etherington

Picture
"Wind Power is a swindle....Please read this book and find out why." -  David Bellamy
"
Adding wind instability to a grid may be an engineer's idea of job security. But for rate and taxpayers, and a better environment, it's criminal. For the grid is then forced to extend itself. As the wind bounces randomly around the system, operators must continuously balance it to match supply precisely with demand, compensating for the ebb and flow much in the way flippers keep the steel ball in play during a game of pinball." - Jon Boone

" The 'ABS Windpower Report' (2006) noted that 'Wind power has been promoted for politico/environmental reasons and wind developers have benefited from substantial subsidies, leading to exaggerated claims. A reality check is needed." (p.152)
